Paul Willis

Paleontologist

Paul has been fascinated by fossils since childhood and went on to study Zoology and Geology at the University of Sydney followed by a PhD looking at fossil crocodiles at the University of New South Wales. In 1997 he was lucky enough to land a traineeship with the ABC as a cross-media reporter for science. During his time at the ABC he was a presenter/producer on the Catalyst program as well as appearances on many shows across ABC TV, radio and online. In 2011 he became Director of the Royal Institution of Australia based in Adelaide, a position he held until 2017. Paul has been teaching researchers how to communicate their research for the last five years as well as setting up his own company, Palaeo Pictures, which raises funds for palaeontological research and produces documentaries about that research.

Paul has been on 11 expeditions to Antarctica with Aurora where he specialises in interpreting the palaeontological treasures to be found on the eastern side of the Antarctic Peninsula.

Join Paul on the Wild Antarctica (ANW280223G) Expedition, departing 28 February 2023.
